The terms when you use watercraft.
Plainly: these terms describe what watercraft promises you, what we ask of you in return, and what happens if either side wants out. They're written in good faith — not to trip you up, but to set out the relationship clearly. If anything is unclear, ask us at hello@watercraft.app.
1. About these terms
These terms form a legal agreement between you and watercraft. By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or buying a Founder's Lifetime spot, you're agreeing to these terms.
You also agree to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your data.
If you're buying as a consumer (which most people are), nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and related UK consumer protection law.
2. The watercraft service
watercraft is a precision logging instrument for carp anglers. The service includes:
- An app for mapping swims, logging sessions, and recording captures
- Tools for reviewing your data and seeing patterns across sessions
- Sync with Swimbooker bookings, where applicable
- Other features as we add them over time
The service is currently in private beta. Public launch is planned for late June 2026, but specific features, timelines, and design may change as we build. We'll do our best to communicate meaningful changes in advance.
3. The Founder's Lifetime offer
The Founder's Lifetime is a one-time, capped offer available before the public launch of watercraft. Under it:
- You pay £179 once, with no ongoing subscription
- You receive lifetime access to the watercraft app, with no recurring charges
- You receive early access to the build before public launch
- You receive a numbered metal identity card (one of 100 in existence)
- The cohort is capped at 100 members; once filled, the offer closes permanently
What "lifetime" means
"Lifetime" means as long as the watercraft service exists. No annual renewal, no usage caps, no upgrade fees as new features land. It does not mean watercraft will exist forever — software businesses can fail, get acquired, or wind down. Section 11 below explains what happens in those cases.
The metal card
The numbered metal identity card is a physical artifact, engraved with your founder ID and shipped to the address you provide at checkout. It is yours to keep. Production timing depends on our engraving partner, and we'll communicate the expected arrival date after your purchase.
4. Payment, pricing, and refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe operates under its own terms and PCI-compliant security.
Founder's Lifetime price
The Founder's Lifetime price is £179, charged once at checkout. The price is inclusive of any applicable UK VAT for buyers in the UK.
Refunds
14-day refund, no questions asked. If you change your mind within 14 days of purchase, email us at hello@watercraft.app and we'll process a full refund within 14 days of receiving the request. This is consistent with — and never less than — your statutory cancellation right under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
If your metal card has already been engraved or shipped at the time you cancel, we may ask you to return it. If returning isn't practical, we'll discuss reasonable alternatives in good faith.
After the 14-day window, refunds are at our discretion and depend on the circumstances. We'll always work with you in good faith.
Future pricing for non-founders
After public launch, watercraft will offer Free, Session Pass, and Annual Pro options. Founder's Lifetime members are not affected by future pricing changes — your access remains lifetime, with no recurring fees.
5. Your account
To use the watercraft app you'll create an account tied to your email address. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens on your account.
If you suspect your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us immediately at hello@watercraft.app.
The Founder's Lifetime account is tied to the email address used at checkout and isn't transferable to another person. The metal card itself is a physical object — yours to keep, gift, or pass on.
6. Acceptable use
watercraft is built for honest carp anglers who want a tool worthy of how seriously they take the practice. To keep the service that way, you agree not to:
- Use the service for anything illegal under UK law
- Attempt to circumvent the founder cohort cap, payment systems, or any other limits we've set
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise access the service in ways not intended by the interface
- Upload content that infringes someone else's rights, contains malware, or is otherwise harmful
- Resell or redistribute the watercraft service, in whole or in part
We may suspend or close accounts that materially breach these rules. Where reasonable, we'll let you know first and give you a chance to address it.
7. Your content
The session data, captures, photos, notes, and other content you create through watercraft remain yours. You retain all rights to it.
You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content as needed to provide the watercraft service to you. We do not use your content for advertising, sell it to third parties, or train AI models on it without your explicit opt-in.
You can export your full data and delete your account at any time.
8. Our intellectual property
The watercraft brand, software, designs, and content (including this page) are owned by us. Buying a Founder's Lifetime spot gives you a personal licence to use the app — it does not transfer ownership of any watercraft IP to you.
The metal identity card is yours physically. You can keep it, gift it, photograph it. The watercraft brand engraved on it remains our IP.
9. Service availability
We aim to keep watercraft running reliably, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, updates, infrastructure incidents, or factors outside our control may cause occasional downtime.
We'll do our best to communicate planned downtime in advance and to resolve unplanned outages quickly.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, watercraft's total liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law
11. If watercraft is sold or shuts down
watercraft is a real business with real risks. If we are acquired, your Founder's Lifetime access transfers to the successor entity under the same terms.
In the unlikely event watercraft genuinely shuts down, we commit to:
- Giving Founder's Lifetime members at least 12 months' notice
- Making your full data available for export in a standard format
- Treating the wind-down honestly and respectfully toward those who put trust (and £179) into us early
12. Termination
You can close your account at any time by emailing hello@watercraft.app. We'll delete your account data within 30 days, except for records we're legally required to keep (such as transaction records for HMRC).
We may close accounts that breach Section 6 (Acceptable use) or for legitimate operational reasons. If we close your Founder's Lifetime account because of a material breach, refunds are at our discretion.
13. Changes to these terms
If we update these terms in any meaningful way, we'll let you know by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
If you don't agree with the updated terms, you can close your account before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts, except where statutory consumer rights require otherwise.
One last thing. These terms are written in good faith. If anything in them seems unfair or unclear, tell us — hello@watercraft.app. We'd rather fix it than rely on the small print.
